"From deep within a concrete city this book transports us upstream towards the beauty of our natural world and conveys an impression of how we live now compared to how we might live. Through each day and into the night the river and surrounding landscape are continually changing.

While adrift in the sky, we see a sprawling city far below stretching toward the hills. Suburbs give way to crops while hills rise up to become snowcapped mountains that gently ground us for a time giving birth to a second river.

With renewed senses we continue downstream through lush forest and into a thriving city of people going about their daily business in parallel with a river flowing strong and clean to the sea. Night falls, stars twinkle and deep in space Earth's horizon shines with the promise of a new day.

Many small stories are steadily woven together into a fabric of mesmerizing colour and pattern. There is a loose feeling of time and a strong sense of flow. Motion results as the observer moves dreamily nearer and far, back and forth, immersed in the energy of a world that surrounds us."

This one long experience folds down concertina style to become a book of everyday appearance where surprise awaits at the turn of each page. Talking points arise within a landscape of seamless buckle and stretch that is impossible to absorb in a single visit.

I aim for a broad audience that appreciates a product beyond spoken words and manufactured characters. This work has been executed while imagining a bright audience of early to middle school age however, reactions so far suggest there is a child of this age in almost everyone.

It has taken 18 months full-time work to incorporate the qualities that create such appeal. To aid me I have 14 years experience training and working as a qualified architect where my design, communication, and delivery skills were honed.

I work by attempting to understand the spirit of a thing and later calling on this. All linework has been drawn first by hand with ink on paper at a scale of 1:1 (original vs. final print size). These drawings are then digitally scanned at 600dpi, coloured, lit and textured.

The original digital image files are around 7000 pixels high. The images displayed on this web site are comparatively tiny at 300 pixels high. Put another way, on an average desktop computer, it would take a grid of screens 9 high by 250 to display every pixel from the full quality files.

I see my future as a broad enterprise whose common thread is a clean, clear need to convey uplifting inspiration toward a more simple, richer existence. Over the time spent executing this current work, I've nurtured further ideas and look forward to these explorations with eagerness and resolve.

Meanwhile, I'm seeking parties interested in making this work available printed on paper where its full glory can be consumed. I welcome any suggestions and comments. Please don't hesitate to email me!
